We are Gold resellers of Proxim (Orinoco, Tsunami, etc), RadioLan, Alvarion, ZComax, SmartBridge, Trango, and new high-throughput solutions by Ceragon. We offer testing to determine if the frequency is congested, as well as line-of-sight verification. We will perform full path performance calculations before we sell you any radio, and make sure you get what you pay for when we install it.
Point-To-Point Radios. These are a relatively new type of unlicensed microwave system. They occupy the upper Spread Spectrum band of 5.725 to 5.850 GHZ, as well as the 24 GHZ band. They are low power and fairly restricted by the FCC, but require no FCC license. They can go to a mile and beyond, depending on the application. They are designed for T1 and Full 10Mbs Ethernet services. They are not Spread Spectrum nor are they Frequency Hopping. As with Spread Spectrum, their main vulnerability comes from the fact that they are not licensed. Someone else could put up another radio down the street and cause interference with no recourse. However their low power and directional antennas make interference unlikely.
Spread Spectrum. These systems are good for both in-building network communications for applications where users are either temporary or very mobile, or for building-to-building applications. Their main vulnerability comes from the fact that they are not licensed. Someone else could put up another radio down the street and cause interference with no recourse. However their low power, frequency hopping ability and directional antennas make interference unlikely. Also their frequency hopping ability makes reception by spies and other nefarious characters practically impossible. This non-licensed status also makes them highly desirable, as there is no wait or cost as is associated with licensed microwaves.
In-Building Spread Spectrum. A good example of a great application is hospitals, where nurses and others are going from room to room, entering and retrieving patient information into and from the data in real time. Information can change quickly, and this allows hospitals to give the best most accurate service to their patients. Another great example are offices where "Hoteling" among employees is used. It does not matter if the employee sits at a shared desk or in the conference room, he or she has the same access to the network as a wired individual.
Building-to-Building Spread Spectrum. We can provide either T1 or Ethernet services over this type of network. Though the throughput of the Ethernet will not exceed 5-6 Mbs, it does have and AUI or RJ-45 interface and for all but the heaviest of users, this is more than adequate and the full 10 Mbs shortcoming is never noticed.
